Sanford donates materials to Habitat for Humanity Restore
A large building at the Sanford Health campus is set to come down soon, but thanks to a partnership with Habitat for Humanity, very little will go to waste.
Wednesday marked the beginning of phase two of demolition of Medical Building 1 on Grange Avenue.
People from the Habitat for Humanity Restore program stopped by to remove cabinets, furniture and other materials from the building.
It was all stuff the organization can use to help in its goal to provide housing for everyone who needs it.
"Habitat for Humanity uses the materials, they re-purpose them, and sell them, and those funds support their mission," Kris Denevan, Sanford executive director of facilities, said.
Medical Building 1 will be torn down in September.
Sanford said it plans to put a parking lot in the building's place.
