Service First holding food, hygiene drive for LifeScape

After hearing of a $250,000 cut in food assistance for LifeScape, a Sioux Falls business felt moved to step in to help.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, so the team at Service First Federal Credit Union thought it would be a perfect time to do a personal hygiene and food drive to help the people supported at LifeScape.

Officials at Service First and LifeScape said the partnership has made a big impact in the lives of people in the community.

"Credit unions are meant to be people helping people, and one of our philosophies here is to reach out into the community and do whatever we can do to make a difference," Service First Vice President of Operations Mark Sundvold said. "It might be just a small difference, but hopefully this can become a huge impact for LifeScape."

"To come in this first week and see all of the stuff that has already been donated is just amazing to me," LifeScape director of Development and Public Relations Kim Haiar said. "I love how this community comes together and to help everybody. For us, it is children and adults with disabilities, but they do this on a regular basis, and they are all about community first."
