One dead in fiery semi-tanker crash near Marion

UPDATE: The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a 56-year-old man was killed in a semi-truck crash in Turner County.

The accident happened Monday morning on 447th Avenue about five miles north of Marion.

Patrol spokesman Tony Mangan said a 2012 International Prostar semi-truck was driving north when the driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The truck and trailer tipped over and rolled, then both caught fire.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown if he was wearing a seat belt. He has not yet been identified.

The Turner County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that one person is dead after a semi-tanker carrying ethanol rolled and caught fire about four miles north of Marion Monday morning.
