A 21-year-old man is behind bars facing murder charges in the death of 30-year-old Casey Bonhorst. This is a case that had police searching for answers and pleading for help in finding Bonhorst's killer.
Police tracked down 21-year-old Jahennessy Bryant near East 26th Street and South Sycamore Avenue. The Minnehaha County Fugitive Task Force took him into custody Wednesday afternoon.
Last Wednesday Casey Bonhorst, a delivery driver for Domino's Pizza was making a delivery to a home just south of 26th Street near Cleveland Avenue. It was when he was walking back to his car that police say Jahennessy Bryant approached him. Bryant had a gun and was attempting to rob Bonhorst. At some point during that robbery police say Bonhorst was shot and killed.
Investigators were left with minimal leads up until this Wednesday, when an arrest warrant was issued pointing to Bryant as the prime suspect. That was welcome news for Susan Graves.
"I heard that they had blocked off some streets earlier today and so I was hoping and praying that something was happening in our favor and it did,” said Graves.
She's the owner of Domino's locations in Sioux Falls. Earlier this week, she made a desperate plea for answers in Bonhorst's murder. Now that a suspect has been named, she says it's a step forward.
"It will help with some of the healing that people have to go through. It doesn’t make it better by any means, but I think we can start putting some closure to and maybe some answers that we all have still lingering of why? Why would somebody do this to an innocent person?"
Bryant is currently being held on a $500,000 cash bond.
Last Friday, the ATF along with Domino’s chains across the country offered a $25,000 reward for information on the murder. According to the ATF, that money won't be given out until a suspect is prosecuted.
