Police: Victim shot in Sioux Falls apartment dies from injuries

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The victim of a shooting earlier this month has died from his injuries, according to police.

Police say on January 17 a fight between two men broke out at an apartment in the 300 block of S. Duluth Avenue.

One of the men pulled a handgun and shot the other man two times. The victim was taken to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

Police have identified the victim as 27-year-old Dakota Sun Bearheels.

Police say no arrests have been made and that the investigation is ongoing.

Police are sharing more information on a shooting that sent a Sioux Falls man to the hospital on Friday.

Police say a woman was walking home in central Sioux Falls at around 10 p.m. Friday. A man she knew stopped and offered her a ride. An argument between the two broke out and the woman left the vehicle and went to her apartment, located in the 300 block of S. Duluth Avenue.

The man knocked on the woman’s door and another argument broke out inside the apartment. The woman’s brother came to the apartment and also started arguing with the man. Police say sometime during the argument, the suspect fired two shots into the man’s chest.

The 27-year-old victim was transported to the hospital.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
