All summer long a Sioux Falls Family has been competing in youth triathlons, hoping to earn a gift for others.

Alicia DeGeest says every time her three young kids won a medal competing in youth triathlons this summer, they earned a bike that they are now putting together to donate to foster families in the Sioux Falls area.

“Throughout seven tri races this summer, our kiddos were on the podium that many times so they earned 21 bikes that are being donated,” DeGeest said.

“It’s amazing, absolutely amazing to have this support and just to know that there are people behind us and people willing to help and people that want to help,” Marla Rasmussen, the president of the East River Foster Parent Network said.

Sunday night, many families gathered at Celebrate Church to put the bikes together and hand them out to several foster kids. The remaining bikes will be stored at East River Foster for future foster kids to enjoy.
