Sioux Falls home damaged in Sunday afternoon fire
A home in southwest Sioux Falls was damaged after a fire Sunday afternoon.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue said crews responded to a call that a deck was on fire in the 5500 block of S. Southwind Avenue just after 1 p.m.
When crews arrived, SFFR said smoke and flames could be seen from the back of the home. The fire did make its way inside, and it was put out in 15 minutes.
A firefighter was bitten on the hand while removing three dogs from inside the home, but did not need medical attention, SFFR said.
No other injuries were reported, and the residents were not home when the fire occurred.
Officials are still investigating the cause.
SFFR responded with four fire trucks and two support vehicles with 18 personnel, and was assisted by the Sioux Falls Police Department, Animal Control, Paramedics Plus Ambulance, MidAmerican Energy, Excel Energy, and the American Red Cross.
