PIERRE, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Sports betting in South Dakota is one step closer to becoming legal.

A joint Senate resolution passed in committee on Thursday.

It would allow voters this November to decide on legalizing sports betting in Deadwood. If voters approve, lawmakers would then decide next year whether to expand sports betting throughout the state via kiosks or a mobile app.

They would also decide which sporting events could be bet on.
