Students at one Sioux Falls Catholic school are getting into the holiday season, preparing their hearts for Christmas by giving to others in-need.

Holy Spirit School spent the last week collecting hooded sweatshirts and socks for the "Hoodies and Footies" program for guests at The Banquet.

It is a service project the school community takes on each year during the weeks leading up to Christmas.

"In the Catholic schools, we have a great focus on serving others that are in need," Principal Regan Manning said. "When we do that, our families and students step up to serve others who are less fortunate."

Over the last week, students collected more than 1,200 pairs of socks and 250 hooded sweatshirts.
