UPDATE: 7/29/19 12:20 p.m.
Sioux Falls police said eight people went to the hospital early Sunday morning after a two-vehicle accident near Eighth Street and Cliff Avenue.
Police said the crash occurred when one vehicle rear-ended another vehicle, causing both drivers to lose control. One vehicle hit a crosswalk pole and a utility pole.
Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said the driver of the suspect car was ticketed for several offenses including vehicular battery, no drivers license, reckless driving and DWI.
Authorities say a weekend crash in eastern Sioux Falls left seven people injured.
The accident took place around 5:40 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of East 8th Street and North Cliff Avenue.
Police say an SUV traveling south on Cliff Avenue collided with a car, causing the car to crash into a light pole.
Four people inside the car were hospitalized with serious injuries. Three people inside the SUV were treated for minor injuries.
Police say are likely, as investigators believe speed and alcohol are likely factors involved in the crash.
