Teacher Swap Meet helps keep down cost of classroom supplies
One local event is helping teachers heading back to school.
The third annual Teacher Swap Meet was held Friday at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. More than 300 shoppers came through the doors in the first hour.
Organizers said teachers spend an average of $500 to stock their classrooms each year, and the event helps to defray that cost.
"For them to have an opportunity to sell their items when they're done using them, as well as teachers can come and purchase new items when they switch classrooms, or even new teachers that need to stock their classrooms, this is a great way for them to get some really rummage sale prices," Teach Swap Meet Chair Amy Scott-Stoltz said.
Organizers said they are excited to see where the event will go in the future.
