What to know before attending the Sioux Empire Fair
The Sioux Empire Fair runs through Sunday at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds where there are many discount days and events planned throughout the week. Admission to the fair is $7 for adults and $2 for children who are between the ages of 6 and 12. Kids who are 5 years old or younger get in for free. Veterans who have a valid military I.D. will also get in the fair for free.
The fair is open from 10:00 AM until Midnight every day except the last day on Sunday when it is open from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. On Monday, admission to the fair is free all day. The free admission will include a concert by The Beach Boys.
Tickets for carnival rides are also just $1 on Monday. The carnival is open from 1:00 PM until Midnight Monday through Friday. On Saturday, it is open from 12:00 PM until Midnight and on Sunday from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM. On Tuesday, wristbands for the carnival are half price at just $15. On Thursday, if you bring three non-perishable food items for Feeding South Dakota, then you can receive $10 off a carnival wristband, which would make the wristband $20 for the day.
Admission to the fair is free until 1:00 PM Tuesday through Friday. Parking is free throughout the duration of the fair. Enter the fairgrounds near Madison Street, which will take drivers to the North and East parking lots where they can park.
