A Minneapolis-based company is planning what it calls the largest-ever wind farm in South Dakota.
Xcel Energy said it plans to add 660 megawatts of new wind generation to the state.
The project would be located in Codington, Deuel and Grant counties in northeast South Dakota. Xcel Energy said the wind farm would be able to power more than 300,000 homes.
The project should also generate about $75 million in property taxes in South Dakota, the company said.
The wind farm would be a part of a 1,550 megawatts of new wind energy across the Upper Midwest.
