SIOUX FALLS - A former Sioux Falls middle school teacher has pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual contact with a child younger than 16.

Tonya Drueppel, 33, faced several charges after she was arrested in early 2014 for having an inappropriate relationship with one of her students. Court documents say Drueppel had a relationship with a 14-year-old girl from September 2012 through January 2014.

As a result of her pleading guilty to the sexual contact charges, three rape charges against Drueppel were dropped. She faces up to 30 years in prison for the sexual contact charges she pleaded guilty to on Friday.

Drueppel was a teacher at Axtell Park Middle School in Sioux falls.
