SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The City of Sioux Falls announced several road construction projects that begin on Tuesday and will impact travel within parts of the city.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

East 57th Street

Starting on Tuesday, the outside eastbound lane of East 57th Street will be closed between Bahnson Avenue and Graystone Avenue for crews to work on improvements to the 57th and Graystone intersection.

The south side sidewalk of 57th Steet between Bahnson and Sycamore Avenue will be closed with pedestrian traffic detoured to the north side sidewalk.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to be complete by June 28.

10th Street

Starting Tuesday, West 10th Street will be closed between West Avenue and Euclid Avenue for the first phase of a multiple-phase street construction project.

Drivers should use 9th Street, 11th Street or 12th Street as an alternate route.

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by mid-August with the overall project anticipated to be completed by November.

Minnesota Avenue

Starting Tuesday, the outside northbound lane of South Minnesota Avenue will be closed between 26th Street and 33rd Street for crews to complete sidewalk improvements.

This is the first of four phases of a project that includes both sides of Minnesota Avenue between 18th Street to 33rd Street. The entire project is expected to be complete by August.

West 57th Street

Starting Tuesday, the outside eastbound lane on West 57th Street will be closed at Tennis Lane for concrete repairs. Eastbound traffic will be maintained in the inside lane of 57th Street.

The sidewalk along the south side of 57th Street will also be closed to pedestrian traffic, with it being rerouted to the north side sidewalk.

Weather permitting, the work should be completed in one week.

Minnesota Avenue near South Veterans Parkway

Starting Tuesday, a traffic change is planned for South Minnesota Avenue near the future South Veterans Parkway intersection for crews to construct the east half of the intersection.

Minnesota Avenue between West 85th Street/270th Street and 271st Street will operate in two-lane traffic through the summer with both lanes being directed to the southbound lanes.

The work is part of the first segment of South Veterans Parkway from Western Avenue to Cliff Avenue. Construction began in June 2023 and will continue through 2024. Construction of the southern part of Veterans Parkway will be done in segments, with work on each segment taking about two years.

Western Avenue and 95th Street

Starting Tuesday, the intersection of Western Avenue and 95th Street will close for approximately 11 weeks for the construction of a roundabout.

A detour will direct traffic to Minnesota Avenue and Louise Avenue.

The work is also part of the first segment of South Veterans Parkway from Western Avenue to Cliff Avenue.
