RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - South Dakota voters are being encouraged to confirm their polling locations before heading out to vote in the Nov. 3 general election.

The Secretary of State’s Office warns that polling places may have changed since the last election.

Voters can use the state’s Voter Information Portal to check their registration status, find their assigned polling place and view a sample ballot.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time on Election Day.

Voters should bring an acceptable photo ID, such as a South Dakota driver license, nondriver ID, qualifying government or tribal ID, or eligible South Dakota school ID. Those without an acceptable ID can still cast a regular ballot by signing a personal identification affidavit.

People voting absentee are also encouraged to check their ballot status and allow enough time for their ballot to be returned.
